Eco-friendly phosphorus based chemical conversion coating was applied for improving the corrosion resistance of electrolytic manganese. Full immersion experiment and electrochemical test were carried out to evaluate. its anti-corrosion behavior in corrosion media. Results showed a marked increase in the corrosion resistance after applying phosphoric acid treatment. The phosphorus based chemical conversion coatings have self-healing abilities under experimental conditions. Based on these results, novel non-Cr passivity was developed and applied for industrial production of manganese. The passivated product has bright appearance and impurity content meets the need of national production standards.
